Join Midpen partner, Latino Outdoors, on Sunday, May 7th for a family friendly Wildflower Walk at Russian Ridge Open Space Preserve at 9:00am.
We'll walk along the Ridge Trail to Borel Hill, which offers breathtaking views of both the Pacific Ocean and the San Francisco Bay and lush grasslands. We'll make frequent stops to make observations of and learn about the folklore, medicinal uses, and biology of the wildflowers and plants we find around us. We'll provide some shared flower guides to reference during our walk. After our hike we'll enjoy some snacks and have seed packets giveaways.
Things to note:
- The trail is an easy, out and back 1.8 total miles with about 315 ft in elevation.
- This is a busy preserve, please arrive early to find parking. We'll be meeting at the Russian Ridge Preserve Parking lot off of the 35 and Alpine Rd.
- The trail is exposed and has no shade. Please bring sun protection (sun screen/hat), plenty of water, and comfortable clothing/shoes.
- Pets are NOT allowed.
- The trail is used by bicyclists, hikers, and horses.
- To protect the wildflowers and limit overcrowding, this event has limited spots! If you RSVP and can no longer attend, please cancel your reservation to allow folks on the waitlist to attend! We greatly appreciate it!

Where to Meet
For this activity at Russian Ridge Preserve, meet at the Skyline Ridge Preserve Parking Area on Skyline Boulevard located one mile south of the Skyline Blvd. (Highway 35) and Page Mill/Alpine Road intersection. After entering the preserve, turn right and go to the farthest parking lot. Those traveling from I-280 on Page Mill Rd. should allow approximately 45 minutes travel time.
