Join Midpen partner Latino Outdoors for a Backpacking Trip to Black Mountain at the Monte Bello Open Space Preserve from Saturday, July 22nd at 10am to Sunday, July 23rd at 12pm.
Monte Bello Open Space Preserve is a place of rolling grasslands, dense creekside forests and spectacular vistas. Black Mountain offers visitors incredible views of Santa Clara Valley and over to Mt. Hamilton
Things to note:
- This is a beginner friendly 2 day, 1 night backpacking trip.
- We'll be hiking 2-2.6 miles a day, with about 500-800 ft in elevation.
- All backpacking gear and food will be provided.
- Participation is open to adults 18 and older, and children ages 14+ when accompanied by a parent or guardian.
- Must complete a Latino Outdoors waiver to participate.
- Exact meeting location, packing list and itinerary will be provided after registration.
- Chemical toilets, food lockers, and water for washing are available. Water is non-potable; we will bring a water purifier, and/or boil before using.
- No pets.

Where to Meet
Meet at the Monte Bello Parking Area on Page Mill Road (across from Los Trancos Preserve), 7 miles west of I-280 or 1.5 miles east of Skyline Boulevard. Those traveling from I-280 on Page Mill Rd. should allow approximately 35 minutes travel time.
