4.3 Community Event
Join Midpen partner, Bay Area Older Adults, on this one-way walk on one of the less traveled trails of Rancho San Antonio Preserve, an area with a 3000-year history dating back to the Ohlone people. Participants will traverse the back end of the preserve on a wide trail that takes them on a leisurely flat walk to Deer Hollow Farm and then heads up a gradual hill with views of the valley and a chance to see wildlife that is mainly undisturbed by humans. The last part of the hike is downhill. Along the way, attendees will learn about the history and habitat of this preserve and look for galls (abnormal plant growths caused by insects) on oak tree leaves. The afternoon will end with a social picnic lunch. For more information, visit the Bay Area Older Adults website.
