Walk & Wine History on Wednesday November 20, 2024 from 9 AM to 3 PM

Join Midpen partner, Bay Area Older Adults, on a moderate three-mile walk along the hills of Fremont Older Open Space Preserve above Cooper Garrod Vineyards. The group will see views of the valley, native shrubs, grassland and trees including Blue Elderberry, Coyote Brush, Coast Live Oak and California Bay with some Buckeye and patches of chaparral and Toyon. The hike will climb up to Maisie’s peak, the highest point in the park, for a 360-degree view of Silicon Valley and beyond. On clear days, San Francisco and Mount Tamalpais are visible to the north, Mount Hamilton to the east, the Santa Cruz Mountains to the west, and Mount Umunhum to the south. Learn about California wine history along the way. At the end of the walk, the group will stop for wine tasting at Cooper Garrod winery (optional and not included) before heading to a picnic lunch. Transportation to and from the park and lunch are included.
