Midpen Begins Redistricting Process
Every 10 years, following the federal census, Midpen’s board of directors is required by law to ensure the District’s seven wards remain substantially equal in population. Our public process starts on August 11 with a “Redistricting 101” study session.

Redwood Cabin Removal Project
The Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District is preparing an environmental impact report for the removal of a historic redwood cabin at La Honda Creek Open Space Preserve to satisfy the California Environmental Quality Act.. The public review and comment period runs through Friday, July 9, 2021. The notice of preparation and complete information regarding this project is available at openspace.org/CEQA.
Board Meeting Updates
Ridgeline Protection
On June 24, the Midpen Board of Directors voted 7-0 to direct the general manager and general counsel to enter into discussions with Santa Clara County staff regarding a grant of enforcement rights of the Ridgeline Easement held by the county on Lehigh Quarry lands that are adjacent to Rancho San Antonio County Park and Open Space Preserve.
2020 Greenhouse Gas Inventory
On Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at 7 p.m. the board of directors will receive a presentation on Midpen’s progress toward greenhouse gas emission reduction goals. The 2020 inventory estimates Midpen has reduced emissions by 23%, ahead of our 2022 goal. Approved by the Midpen board in 2018, the Climate Action Plan sets goals to reduce emissions below Midpen’s baseline emissions by 20% by 2022, 40% by 2030, and 80% by 2050.
