The Santa Clara County Water District (SCVWD) is scheduled to begin construction on the Rancho San Antonio Park flood detention basin in December. This project will provide flood protection for 2,200 homes and businesses including schools. In addition to flood protection, the project will also enhance wildlife habitat and amenities in Rancho San Antonio.
- A gently sloped, 15-foot-deep vegetated detention basin in Rancho San Antonio park;
- Replacement of the existing maintenance bridge;
- New restrooms;
- A new, larger, paved parking lot with designated equestrian spots
- Dozens of new, native trees;
- Removal of non-native trees that compete with the native landscape.
The SCVWD will host public meetings on this project on November 10 and November 14.
