New volunteers are hitting the trails this month. Following a 12-week natural history, ecology and interpretation training, our 22 new Outdoor Activity Docents are enthusiastic about providing enriched experiences for visitors to open space preserves. You'll soon meet them at the many FREE guided activities offered throughout the preserves.
In addition, 40 new Trail Patrol Volunteers completed their training program. These hikers, runners, mountain cyclists, equestrians and dog-walkers are now hiking and riding District trails, providing information and trail etiquette tips to visitors as well as reporting trail and other preserve hazards and maintenance needs.
Training classes are scheduled this fall for those interested in becoming Nature Center Hosts and Outdoor Education Leaders.
