It’s springtime! See the wildflowers that were nourished by the winter rains with Docent Naturalists Martin Manley, Dave Kocsis, and Linda Smith. En route along the Zinfandel Trail you’ll get to know the various plant communities that can be found in this relatively small preserve and check out what creatures might be living in the pond. Bring a lunch to enjoy at the picnic tables by Stevens Creek. After this moderately-paced exploration, you’ll have the option for wine tasting at the Picchetti Winery on your own time. Please note: a shortened version of this hike will go ahead in light or moderate rain—it can be a wonderful time to see this preserve if you have good raingear.
Meet at the preserve parking lot on Montebello Road. From the intersection of I-280 and Foothill Expressway, go 3.5 miles southwest (toward the mountains) on Foothill Boulevard/Stevens Canyon Road. Turn right on Montebello Rd. The preserve is 0.5 miles up Montebello Rd. on the left.
