French broom, Harding grass, star thistle, Acacia….. The list of non-native, invasive weeds in Midpen preserves goes on and on. But what exactly is a weed? Join Docent Naturalists Frances Reneau and Bobbie Riedel on a moderately-paced hike along the Bay Trail to learn to identify some common local weeds and discover the attributes that make them so difficult to eradicate.

Where to Meet

Meet at the Ravenswood Parking Area. From Highway 101, exit on University Avenue. Follow University Ave. north (about four long blocks) to Bay Road.  Turn right on Bay Rd. and follow it to the very end (about 1.2 miles).  The preserve entrance and parking lot are marked with large signs.

To ensure your experience on a docent naturalist outing is enjoyable please review these activity guidelines.
