Trail Treks, scheduled on the fourth Thursday, provide exercise-focused hikes and opportunities to discover Midpen's beautiful preserves.
Enjoy the shade on this moderately-paced hike with Docent Naturalists Nancy Weintraub, Bobbie Riedel, and Nick Yatsko. You'll meet up at Skyline Ridge Circle Parking Area before hiking together across Skyline Boulevard where you'll enter Monte Bello Preserve via the Skid Road Trail. You’ll then descend on the long and winding Canyon Trail, which follows a historic ranch route through wooded terrain and connects Page Mill Road and Stevens Canyon Road. This route is mostly protected from the summer heat, descending through Douglas fir and mixed evergreen forest communities before reversing at Grizzly Peaks Trail for the return climb (1.7 miles shy of Stevens Canyon Road). Bring a snack for a short break.
Meet at the Skyline Ridge Circle Parking Area on Skyline Boulevard located one mile south of the Skyline Blvd. (Highway 35) and Page Mill/Alpine Road intersection. After entering the preserve, turn right and go to the farthest parking area. Those traveling from I-280 on Page Mill Rd. should allow approximately 45 minutes travel time.
