Picchetti Ranch Preserve
Approximate Total Miles
4.5

The weather is cooling and the rainy season is here. You’ll observe the effects of the changing season on the wide variety of plant communities of the Bay Area, many of which can be found in this Preserve. Join docents Martin Manley, Linda Smith and Chris MacIntosh for a moderately-paced hike. You’ll discuss the varieties of plant communities and the ways in which they have adapted to their unique environments. If the weather allows, you'll take a lunch break at the picnic tables down by Stevens Creek. At the end of the hike you'll have the option for a little wine tasting at Picchetti Winery on your own. Please note that this hike will occur in light or moderate rain – it can be a wonderful time to see this Preserve if you have appropriate raingear. Reservations are required and will be accepted on or after November 12 and close on November 24 at 2:00 p.m.

Where to Meet

Meet at the preserve parking lot on Montebello Road. From the intersection of I-280 and Foothill Expressway, go 3.5 miles southwest (toward the mountains) on Foothill Boulevard/Stevens Canyon Road.  Turn right on Montebello Rd.  The preserve is 0.5 miles up Montebello Rd. on the left.
