Peak a View on Skyline Sampler

Sunday, May 4, 2025
9:00 am - 2:30 pm
Skyline Ridge Preserve
Approximate Total Miles
7.5

Hike through not just one but four preserves with Docent Naturalists Nancy Weintraub, Laura Knott-Thomas, Emma Dohner, and Sabra Abraham on a scenic exploration offering several peaks and views. Starting at Skyline Ridge, you'll enjoy a moderately-paced loop hike along the Bay Area Ridge Trail through Monte Bello, Coal Creek, and Russian Ridge before circling back to Skyline Ridge where you began. On the path you'll experience breathtaking vistas, glorious wildflowers, and diverse landscapes including shady mixed evergreen forests, canyons, and grassy hills. You'll learn how these lands have been stewarded since time immemorial by the Ohlone people and why the land is protected as open space today. This hike is for individuals who are comfortable with "long distance hiking" and able to walk 2.5 miles per hour. Bring a lunch.

Where to Meet

Meet at the Skyline Ridge Circle Parking Area on Skyline Boulevard located one mile south of the Skyline Blvd. (Highway 35) and Page Mill/Alpine Road intersection. After entering the preserve, turn right and go to the farthest parking area. Those traveling from I-280 on Page Mill Rd. should allow approximately 45 minutes travel time.
