National Moth Week is scheduled for July 20-28 this year. Join Docent Naturalists Debbi Brusco, Jack Owicki, Vivian Neou, Ray Curiel, and other enthusiasts of the nocturnal world, and see for yourself that moths are much more than little brown things that eat your clothing! Using special lights to attract them, you'll observe how surprisingly beautiful and interesting these winged creatures truly are. You'll also have the opportunity to be a community scientist by photographing and submitting your observations to iNaturalist or another site. See National Moth Week for additional information. Bring water/snacks, a flashlight, and your camera or phone. The area is mostly flat, but wear closed-toe sturdy shoes/boots. This activity takes place at the parking lot; participants will have the option to leave earlier than the scheduled end time. This easy activity is well suited for those needing a less physically challenging outing. Reservations are required and will be accepted on or after July 12 at 12:00 p.m. (Noon) and close on July 25 at 2:00 p.m.
Meet at the Monte Bello Parking Area on Page Mill Road (across from Los Trancos Preserve), 7 miles west of I-280 or 1.5 miles east of Skyline Boulevard. Those traveling from I-280 on Page Mill Rd. should allow approximately 35 minutes travel time.
