Enjoy a leisurely-paced walk with Docent Naturalists Olga and Tony Bright to explore the cultural and natural history of the Hawthorns Area, a limited access location that is not contiguous to the rest of Windy Hill Preserve. You’ll be guided through grasslands, oak-dotted hills, and an olive orchard; you’ll wander along a stream and see structures built in the late 1880’s, including one of the few historic estates left in California. Your outing will also provide sweeping views of the Santa Cruz Mountains, East Bay hills and San Francisco Bay (weather permitting). Reservations are required and will be accepted on or after December 28 at 12:00 p.m. (Noon) and close January 10 at 2:00 p.m. (Note: Directions will be sent after reservations close. A docent will meet you at the gate and direct you to parking area; please arrive 10-15 minutes early. Some sections of the walk are on unimproved trails.)
