Green Friday

8:30 am - 3:00 pm
El Corte de Madera Creek Preserve
Approximate Total Miles
7

Have you ever noticed how the terms “economy” and “ecosystem” derive from the same root word? In this spirit, let this hike be your outdoors antidote to the shop-till-you-drop excitement of next week’s retail bonanza known as Black Friday. Join Interpretive Specialist Katie Renz and Docent Naturalists Mallik K., Katie Wilson, and Minh Pham to immerse yourself beneath the coniferous canopy, frolic amid ferns, and inhale the scent of a healthy, productive ecosystem. This moderately-paced exploration follows several trails, including the Oljon, Manzanita, and Gordon Mill. You'll visit the Methuselah tree, engage in fun, casual hands-on activities, and consider what it means to “be green”. Bring a lunch.

Where to Meet

Meet at the El Corte de Madera Parking Area located on the west side of Highway 35 (Skyline Boulevard), about 1- mile south of the Caltrans Skeggs Point parking area and 2.7 miles north of the intersection of Highway 35 and Highway 84.
