Explorer Hike: Black Mountain Views

February 5, 2025
10:30 am - 2:30 pm
Monte Bello Preserve
Approximate Total Miles
5.5

Soak up the views at the summit of Black Mountain, the highest peak along the Monte Bello Ridge. Learn about the region with Docent Naturalists Mary Brunkhorst, Nick Yatsko, and Kate Bauer during this moderately-paced hike through grasslands and oak woodlands along the Bella Vista, Old Ranch, and Indian Springs trails. You’ll take a well-deserved snack break and enjoy the views from the top before heading back down the mountain.

Where to Meet

Meet at the Monte Bello Parking Area on Page Mill Road (across from Los Trancos Preserve), 7 miles west of I-280 or 1.5 miles east of Skyline Boulevard. Those traveling from I-280 on Page Mill Rd. should allow approximately 35 minutes travel time.
