Explorer Hike: Annual Turkey Trot

November 23, 2022
10:30 am - 2:30 pm
Rancho San Antonio Preserve
Approximate Total Miles
4

It's that time of the year again to join Docent Naturalists Mary Brunkhorst, Kate Bauer, and Bobbie Riedel in the search for the wild turkeys that were fortunate enough to have escaped your dinner table. You'll get a head start on working off the holiday repast on this leisurely-paced hike along the Lower Meadow, Rogue Valley, and Chamise Trails with minor elevation change. At a lunch stop there will be a healthy discussion of how many turkeys everyone actually counted on this hike. Past Turkey Trot participants have observed zero to dozens of turkeys - join in on this fun annual tradition to add your sightings!

(Note: Arrive early and allow extra time to find parking)

Where to Meet

Meet near the restroom at the bottom of the hill in the preserve parking lot farthest to the right. From I-280, take Foothill Boulevard south and turn right almost immediately onto Cristo Rey Drive. Continue about 1 mile, veer right around the traffic circle, and turn left into the park. After entering the preserve, turn right and drive approximately 0.3 miles to Lot 6
