The weather is cooling and the rains should arrive. You’ll observe the effects of the changing season on the wide variety of regional flora and the ways these plants have adapted to their unique environments. Join Docent Naturalists Martin Manley and Chris MacIntosh for a moderately-paced hike. If the weather allows, bring lunch or a snack to enjoy at the picnic tables down by Stevens Creek. At the end of the outing you'll have the option for a little wine tasting on your own at Picchetti Winery. Please note that this hike will go ahead in light or moderate rain – it can be a wonderful time to see this preserve if you have appropriate raingear.
Meet at the preserve parking lot on Montebello Road. From the intersection of I-280 and Foothill Expressway, go 3.5 miles southwest (toward the mountains) on Foothill Boulevard/Stevens Canyon Road. Turn right on Montebello Rd. The preserve is 0.5 miles up Montebello Rd. on the left.
