A Cool Summer Retreat

10:00 am - 1:30 pm
Long Ridge Preserve
Approximate Total Miles
4

Take a break from the heat and busy life to experience the welcome cool of the forest along Peters Creek on this moderately-paced hike with Docent Naturalists Marie Faust Evitt, Catherine Crawford-Swent, and Ann McCarty. Enjoy the serenity of Jikoji Pond before gradually climbing the Peters Creek Trail up to the Long Ridge Trail for an opportunity to enjoy the view out toward the coast at Wallace Stegner Memorial Bench. Bring a snack for this break. You’ll then circle back through the woods, refreshed and energized.

Where to Meet

Meet at Peters Creek Roadside Parking, on the west side of Skyline Boulevard, 3.6 miles north of Highway 9 or 3.3 miles south of Page Mill Road.  If you are coming from the north on Skyline Blvd., the pullout is just past Portola Heights Road on the right.  From the south, the pullout is near the Palo Alto city limits sign on the right. There is additional parking across Skyline Blvd. at the Grizzly Flat trailhead (Santa Clara County Park).
