Wait…how can you go birding without seeing birds? Summer is a quiet time for finding birds, so we may not see or hear as many as in other seasons. Instead, we'll focus on discovering the things birds need to survive and thrive. Join Docent Naturalists Melissa Hero, Chris MacIntosh, and Nick Yatsko along the Sausal Pond Trail for a leisurely-paced walk with 230-foot elevation gain. In case there are birds to be seen, please bring binoculars if you have them.

Where to Meet

The Lower Windy Hill Parking Area at the lower portion of the preserve is located on Portola Road. Please note: This parking lot fills quickly. Please do not park on Portola Road: parking is strictly enforced.
