Join docent naturalists Frances Reneau, Jayita Bhojwani and Susan Bernhard for the 6th hike of the "All Preserves" series celebrating Midpen's 50th anniversary. Located east of I-280 in the hills above San Carlos, this hilltop was formerly the site of San Francisco's public health tuberculosis sanitorium. In present times with on-going restoration efforts, indigenous chaparral and oak woodland species such as fetid adder's tongue and giant trillium are reclaiming the land. This leisurely-paced outing will take you along the Blue Oak, Dick Bishop, Polly Geraci and Cordilleras trails. Reservations are required and will be accepted on or after March 6 at 12:00 p.m. (Noon) and close March 18 at 2:00 p.m. Note: Arrive early, as parking may be limited due a construction project by the preserve.
Meet at the Pulgas Ridge Parking Area on Edmonds Rd. From I-280, exit Edgewood Road. Drive 0.75 miles on Edgewood Rd. toward San Carlos/Redwood City. Turn left (north) on Crestview Drive, then immediately turn left on Edmonds Road. Follow Edmonds Rd. to the preserve parking lot entrance on the right.
