Learn about another historic site now part of a Midpen preserve with docent naturalists Frances Reneau, Helena Cohen, and Wendy Crowder on the 4th hike of the "All Preserves" 50th Anniversary series. This preserve reveals Santa Clara Valley's orcharding and wine making roots and provides seasonal wonders including a small ephemeral pond that fills when rain is ample. With hoped for precipitation you may be fortunate to see newts or frogs active in their respective amphibian life-cycle pursuits! This will be a leisurely-paced outing. Reservations are required and will be accepted on or after February 6 and close February 18 at 2:00 p.m.
Meet at the preserve parking lot on Montebello Road. From the intersection of I-280 and Foothill Expressway, go 3.5 miles southwest (toward the mountains) on Foothill Boulevard/Stevens Canyon Road. Turn right on Montebello Rd. The preserve is 0.5 miles up Montebello Rd. on the left.
