Approximate Total Miles:
  • Moderate Hike

Soap plants open their flowers in the late afternoon and evening. Join docents Vivian Neou and Ramon Curiel on a search for these lovely blossoms. On this hike, you’ll traverse the Preserve on the Blue Oak, Dick Bishop, and Dusky-footed Woodrat Trails as you look for soap plant and other plants in bloom.  Creatures of the night may be observed or heard too on your evening adventure. There will be a stop to enjoy your meal or snack and take in the views. Bring a flashlight with a red cellophane covering (if you have it), your meal, and plastic to sit on. Capable, attentive children age 10 years and older are welcome. Reservations are required and will be accepted on or after June 10.
