Yoriko Kishimoto was born in Japan and raised in the United States. She attended Wesleyan University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in East Asian studies. She earned her MBA from Stanford University in 1981.

Yoriko has served on the board since 2010. Prior to joining Midpen, she was a member of the Palo Alto City Council where she promoted walkable communities, open government, high environmental standards and fiscal responsibility. She became mayor in 2007.

In addition to her work in the City of Palo Alto, Yoriko also served on the boards of Hidden Villa, the Bay Area Air Quality Management District and the Valley Transportation Authority.

Yoriko represents Midpen on several regional boards, including two years as past chair of the Santa Clara Water Commission, delegate to Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO) of Santa Clara County and alternate commissioner to County Supervisor Otto Lee on the Bay Conservation and Development Commission (BCDC). She is also a councilor of the Save the Redwoods League and Honorary Advisor to the Hakone Foundation.

Yoriko enjoys painting, and she and her husband love hiking on all Midpen trails. They have two adult daughters who live in Oakland and Seattle.
