In July 2010, the name of Mills Creek Open Space Preserve was changed to Miramontes Ridge Open Space Preserve because the ridge, which climbs
eastward from the edge of Half Moon Bay to Skyline Boulevard, is locally known as Miramontes Ridge, and the new name better acknowledges the land's historic heritage.

Public access is currently limited pending trail planning and development.
